Leah Kercheville, 500hr E-RYT, TIY
Trauma Informed Yoga Therapist, Reasons Eating Disorder Center
Leah Kercheville was introduced to yoga in high school and was profoundly influenced by the physical and mental peace she experienced in those first encounters. She went to New York for classical theater training and deepened her understanding of expression through the body with Alexander and Linklater Techniques. As a former performer, she is passionate about helping people to feel safe and free to be their authentic selves--which is what drew her to become a 500 hr registered yoga teacher(RYT) and MFT. In addition to her RYT hours, she has allocated 100 hours training in yoga for trauma, run teacher trainings, led retreats, and facilitated yoga for trauma for over 15 years. She is currently finishing a masters in clinical psychology at Antioch University, committed to socially conscious education. She uses evidence-based somatic integration and grounding techniques to train clients how to self-regulate and co-regulate through triggering experiences that may otherwise lead to dissociations and unhealthy behaviors. Using a humanistic lens, Leah lets the client lead in their healing pace so as to restore a sense of agency in the body and prevent retraumatization leading the client to be able to regulate in their daily life by the creation of new muscle memory and neuropathways. Leah has worked for Reasons Eating Disorder Center at all levels of care since 2016. She also teaches public yoga classes at various studios in Los Angeles as well as private clients in person and virtually.
